EatLafayette Campaign Goes Social
The EatLafayette campaign, now in its fourth year, is having a slight makeover. The campaign is now more visible on the Web with a move into the social media sphere. Through a YouTube channel and a blog, EatLafayette is reaching out to consumers in a fresh way.
“Social media use is a necessity for successful campaigns to really connect with their target audiences,” said president and CEO of Calzone & Associates, Julie Calzone. “By utilizing such media as YouTube and blogs, the campaign reaches farther and allows for more interaction with consumers, creating more traffic to the Web site and restaurants,” said Calzone.

Eat Lafayette to Kick Off
Eating out is big business in Lafayette, and an upcoming campaign aims to keep much of that business in the local community. The fourth annual EatLafayette campaign kicks off Monday.The two-month promotion encourages residents to support locally owned restaurants in Lafayette Parish.
"People come to Cajun country for three reasons - the food, the music and the culture," said Gerald Breaux, director of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. "And food is usually No. 1 or No. 2 on anybody's agenda."

Fourth Annual EatLafayette Kicks Off on June 16th What started as a conversation between two local businessmen in Lafayette has evolved into a successful promotions campaign that provides a unique opportunity for people to experience local cuisine in Lafayette. Charlie Goodson, owner of Charley G’s Seafood Grill, and Gerald Breaux, Executive Director of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission got together in early 2005 to discuss how locally owned restaurants could gain visibility in a market flooded with big-dollar franchise restaurant advertising.
